Rams Hill Golf Club. previously named Montesoro Golf Club - Fazio Course and before that a private course named Rams Hill Country Club, is now Semi-Private. The 18 hole golf course is located in Borrego Springs, the unincorporated desert town of 2600 full-time residents in northeast San Diego County.
The course first opened for play in 1982. The course was designed by Ted Robinson. The course was redesigned in 2007 by Tom Fazio.
The course sits at the bottom of a valley in the Anza Borrego Desert State Park surrounded by the Santa Rosa Mountains. There is an oasis feel to this course. Palm, olive, and eucalyptus trees border the fairways and the seven lakes of the course. With 40 acres of maintained desert flowers and fescue grasses, this Southern California golf course plays over 7,000 yards with 600 feet of elevation change. A remarkably diverse combination of holes includes unique and bountiful water features, as well as Fazio's trademark mounding and bunker complexes.
The course closed in 2011 and was reopened in 2014.

This Course has completely changed Personalities in the past 5 Years. It is now a Championship type Golf Course worthy of play by any PGA or LPGA member to test their skills. For the Amateur there are various Tee Boxes /distances to make Their experience enjoyable. It's one of the more Pristine Courses I have ever played. Mr. Rick Sprouse, Course Director, is the consummate Golfing Professional and will take care of all Your needs while visiting. Because of Location, I recommend play in the Fall, Winter and Spring. The Heat is Intense in the Summer months.

I played with a member and thus a reduced price. The course is in magnificent shape and has a very creative layout. Greens are large but tricky. The views are amazing and the fairways are very well maintained. Other than the price that they intend to charge in the future, there is no negative about the course...except the 18th hole can gobble up two golf balls every time I play it. Its a very unique and breathtaking experience.

Incredible value for a course of this caliber. Felt like a private course as only saw I other foursome. The day was perfect with little wind and exceptionally clear skies. High temp 75 degrees. gorgeous panoramic views of the Anzo Borrego State Park and Santa Rosa mountains. A rare experience for the price.

Played Rams Hill when it opened in the 80's but the course has changed dramatically. Great desert course that has generous fairways that mostly keep the desert out of play. However they make up for the wide fairways with well placed and large bunkers. Fairways and greens were perfect. Greens had enough undulation and tiers to keep you on your toes and the green-side bunkers were deep! However, the condition of the sand was excellent and rewarded a properly played bunker shot. The greens did bounce a bit before checking so landing your irons about 20 feet short of the hole was a must. Really fun layout and a great staff. Can't rate the food as they close the restaurant on Mondays and Tuesdays. Drove almost 2 hours to get there from San Diego but will consider this course as a once per year visit.
